How to Install Android 4.0 on Motorola Droid Razr CDMA

Motorola Droid Razr users have been waiting for the official Android 4.0 update for quite some time now and there is still no update when exactly is it going to be available officially from Verizon.

We believe it is probably under testing phase and will be rolled out soon. Whatever the case is, well, you can now have the official Android 4.0 on your Motorola Droid Razr (CDMA, Verizon) the unofficial way and enjoy the tasty Ice Cream Sandwich.


You must remember, that is specific tutorial is only for the CDMA version of Motorola Droid Razr and will not work with the GSM version. Please don’t try install it on the GSM version of the phone.

Make sure you have installed all your USB drivers of the Motorola/Verizon Droid Razr to connect it with the computer.

For Android 2.3 and earlier:

Step 1 - Go to Settings.

Step 2 - Go to Applications.

Step 3 - Tap and check “Unknown sources” box.

Step 4 - Tap ‘OK” on the warning.

That’s it! Now you have enabled your phone to manually install APK files. For Android 4.0+, see below:

For Android 4.0+:

Step 1 - Go to Settings.

Step 2 - Go to Security.

Step 3 - Scroll down and check “Unknown sources” box.

Step 4 - Tap ‘OK” on the warning.

Tutorial: Install Android 4.0 on Motorola Droid Razr CDMA

We have put together a detailed step-by-step instructions guide on how to install official Android 4.0 ICS software update on Motorola/Verizon Droid Razr (CDMA). Please read every line carefully.

To Remember:
This Android 4.0 ROM is only for Motorola/Verizon Droid Razr (CDMA) running on stock 0.173 software version. We are not sure if it will work on any other software version.
Your phone has to be rooted.
Make sure you backup all your data in your phone before proceeding.

Complete Step-By-Step Instructions:

Step 1 - Download OTA Root Keeper from the Google Play Store and backup your root so you will not lose it later after updating to Android 4.0.

Step 2 - Now download Cheesecake v2 and install it on your phone. See: How to Install Android App APK Manually.

Step 3 - Tap the “Click to change server” button and select staging.

Step 4 - Select the link which ends with 100.

Step 5 -Now tap the “Check for updates!” button and then tap Setup. Agree the Terms and Conditions.

Step 6

- An update notification will be prompted on the screen. Follow the on-screen instructions and install it.

Step 7 - If you come across any bugs/force closes/problems, just go to the Recovery Mode and select “Wipe Cache”. This should fix all the problems.
